About Drammeh Yiriwaa
Small acts, when multiplied, change entire communities.
Drammeh Yiriwaa Foundation delivers relief food, clothing and direct aid to families across The Gambia and Senegal. We partner directly with village elders, mothers, and international donors to deliver aid that lasts. We don't parachute in, we live here, invest in people, and stay for the long run.
Our story
The foundation began in the communities its founders come from, and it still works the same way. Families there know each other, and they knew which households were going without long before any organisation did. What was missing was not information. It was a way to turn the goodwill of people abroad into rice, clothing and school materials arriving at the right door.
So that is what Drammeh Yiriwaa was set up to be: the link between a supporter in Europe or the diaspora and a family in a village, with nothing taken out in between and nothing hidden about where it went.
The work has grown outward across The Gambia and into Senegal, but the method has not changed. The community says what it needs. Supporters fund it. It is delivered by hand and photographed. Then we do it again.

How we work
Four steps, the same way round every time. It is deliberately unglamorous, and it is why supporters can be told exactly where a gift went.

The village decides what is needed
Every project starts with the elders, the mothers and the response team who live there. We do not arrive with a plan and look for somewhere to apply it.

Supporters fund it directly
Gifts come from families here and from supporters in Europe and the diaspora. There is no administrative cut taken along the way.

It is delivered and recorded
Aid is handed over in person and photographed, so anyone who gave can see where it went and who received it.

We stay
We live in these communities. The work continues after the distribution, which is what makes the next one possible.

The distance between these is the whole point: the support comes from one end and the work happens at the other.
